This study aimed to determine the determinants of mother's preference for home delivery in Barangay Taysan, Legazpi City. Specifically it sought answers to the following questions: This study was conducted to identify and analyze the determinants of mothers' preference for home delivery in Barangay Taysan Purok 1, Legazpi City.

Specifically, this study sought answers to the following questions:
1.) What are the demographic characteristic of the mothers in Barangay Taysan, Legazpi City in terms of: civil status ,age, religion, occupation, educational attainment, and monthly family income.
2.) What are the beliefs of the mothers on delivery preference in terms of a). home delivery, and b.) hospital delivery.3.) What are the factors that influence the mothers' decision whether to give birth at home or in the hospital? 4.) What nursing implications may be proposed related to a mother's preference for home delivery?
This study is a descriptive type of research utilizing the survey questionnaire as the data gathering instrument. The population of the study consist of mother's from Barangay Taysan, Legazpi City Purok 1 and are residing permanently in the said locality. By using total enumeration, there are 89 mothers who answered the survey questionnaire
The study was anchored on Betty Neuman's System Model and Kurt Lewin's Field Theory. Primary and secondary sources of data were utilized in this study. The Statistical treatment used was the Frequency count and percentage to treat the data gathered.
Based on the data gathered the following findings were revealed.
1. The demographic profile of the respondents revealed that out of 89 respondents
40 or 49.9% are single and 25 or 28.08% belong to the age group of 41 and above, Majority of them are Roman Catholic and most of them are employed with the frequency of 42 or 47% and 30 or 33% were able to finish elementary a family income of P1501- P2000.
2. In line with the mother's belief, they preferred home delivery because it is cheaper, with the frequency of 34 or 38.2%, while they openly claimed that hospital delivery is safer. Economic reason is one of the factors that make them prefer home delivery.
3.) As for the factors that influence the mothers' to choose home delivery, most of the respondents stated that it was due to financial constraints, and the mothers claimed that they feel comfortable at home with the involvement of the family rather than in any other health institution. Nearly everyone has not encountered any difficulties during delivery, similarly they have not experienced any complications. 4.) There were several nursing implications that were proposed to enhance the knowledge of the mothers regarding the home birth delivery such as, conduct of health teaching, trainings and seminars, poster and information disseminations by distributing pamphlets and other materials regarding home birth delivery.

Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn.
1. Majority of the respondents were on their middle adulthood, housewives, have attained primary level of education, Roman Catholic and belonged to the group of low income earners. The mothers were motivated economically, this is in accordance to the demographic profile of the mothers and it seems that financial constraints greatly influenced their decisions. On comforts, mothers would want to be with their family giving her support as she goes through the labor process until giving birth.
2. The mothers' beliefs about home delivery is it is cheap. It revealed that due to financial constraints mothers would prefer a less financial burden in giving birth. But mothers openly say that hospital delivery is still the safest facility in terms of medical issues.
3. The factors that affect the mothers' decision revealed that due to economic reason mothers' preferred home delivery.
4. There were many nursing implications of this study, which can contribute to enrich nursing knowledge.

The following recommendations are presented for considerations to help decrease home deliveries which are preferred by many mothers.
1. Mothers, mainly to the young and old reproductive age group, showed be re- oriented on that the complications of childbirth can be prevented if they agree to submit themselves religiously to pre-natal care given by the barangay health workers in their community and it is highly recommended that barangay health workers should provide more information. To the mothers who have not attained high level of education, they should engage in advanced education proposed by the government.
In providing information on the mode of delivery, the health workers must take into consideration the income of the mothers. Family members should avail themselves of the government program which is Pantawid Pamilya. It is a conditional cash transfer program that provides incentives for poor families to invest in their future by ensuring that mothers and children avail of healthcare and that children go to school. As such, it is a human development program that invests in the health and education of children. At the same time, the cash grants alleviate current poverty by providing immediate relief from cash flow problems. Such extra cash received on a bimonthly basis is especially important for poor households that have irregular or seasonal income. In 4P's (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) monthly income allowance and they can avail of being a member of PHIL health. Its goal is insuring a sustainable national health insurance program for all. To the couple partners should present different occupational ideas where to get their financial expenses. Recommend to them that they must be involved in a family planning program. 2.) Husbands should be supportive to the needs of their wives. They should provide the emotional care needed by their spouses. They should give financial support before, during and after the delivery of the baby. To the family members, they should be supportive to the needs of the pregnant mother, give full support for the security of the baby and to the mother. 3).To the nursing students, they should gain insights of why mothers prefer home delivery, thus broaden mothers' knowledge on this matter through their health teaching. To the clinical instructors, they should plan and initiate activities for nursing students in the community in relation to home delivery.
